The analysis of a case of underarm hair removal with light and dense hair helps us to confront these cases which may show few results.

30-year-old woman who consulted for hair removal of the armpit area. Although in the photos the hair is light-colored due to the high contrast of the photo, it was actually light brown.

With the first session, uptake with the 760 diode laser was obtained close to 77% at 26 days of follow-up. This meant in principle a good level of action but, it happens that if reinforcements are not carried out, the hair grows back in a quantity very similar to the initial one.

The 30-day range without hair regrowth was exceeded with three additional sessions with diode laser, achieving 36% reduction at 46 days:

The hair length indicates that the touch-up session should have been done at month 3-4. Reduction achieved after 10 sessions: 91% at six months

 

CONCLUSIONS:

  1. Sessions before visible regrowth of thick, dense hair should be at an interval of 15 to 25 days.
  2. Sessions should be performed at progressively longer intervals.
  3. The number of sessions to achieve a reduction greater than 90% within 6 months may be less, if the initial stage of treatment is reinforced.
